Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 June 2026
Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Nanotech Computers (Pty) Ltd (“Nanotech Computers”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use the Simply Track app for iPhone and Apple Watch (the “App”) and this website at www.simply-track.com (the “Website”, together the “Services”). We are the developer of the App and the responsible party (data controller). We process information in line with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and, where it applies, the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Simply Track is built to keep your most personal information yours. The App works without an account, and your cycle and health data stays on your device, and we do not run a server that receives it.
Our privacy principles
- Private by design: the App works fully without an account and without sending your cycle data to us.
- Data minimisation: we only ever handle what the App genuinely needs to function.
- No surveillance: no advertising identifiers, no cross-app or cross-site tracking, and no data brokers.
- You decide: Apple Health, iCloud sync, notifications and app lock are all optional and under your control.
Information the App handles
Everything below is stored on your device and, if you enable iCloud sync, in your private iCloud. Unless stated otherwise, we do not receive or have access to it:
- Cycle & health data you enter: period start and stop dates, flow, symptoms, moods, discharge, notes, and your cycle and period length.
- A profile you optionally provide: a name or nickname, your birth year, and reminder preferences, used to personalise guidance and tune predictions to your age.
- Sleep data: sleep times you enter manually, or read from Apple Health with your permission.
- Subscription status: whether you have an active Premium subscription, processed by Apple and our payments provider (see below). This is not health data.
Apple’s privacy label for the App reflects this: the only data types associated with the App are Health & Fitness and Purchases, both used solely for app functionality, both not linked to your identity and not used to track you.
Where your data is stored
Your cycle and health entries are saved in a private database on your device. If you turn on iCloud sync, a copy is stored in your own private iCloud (Apple CloudKit) account so it can sync between your iPhone and Apple Watch and be restored to a new device. That data sits in your Apple account, protected by Apple’s encryption. It is not stored on our servers, and we cannot read it. Apple processes it as described in the Apple Privacy Policy. You can turn iCloud sync off in your device settings at any time.
What we do not do
- We do not require an account, and do not ask for your email, phone number or real name.
- We do not sell, rent or share your personal data with anyone for their own purposes.
- We do not show advertising and use no advertising identifiers.
- We do not use third-party analytics SDKs and do not build a profile of you.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites: the App declares no tracking in its privacy manifest.
Apple Health
Connecting Apple Health is optional. If you choose to, iOS asks you, outside our control, exactly which categories to share (for example sleep or menstrual data). The App reads only what you allow, uses it on your device, and can write cycle data back to Health if you permit it. Health data accessed this way is never transmitted to us and is never used for advertising. You can review or revoke these permissions any time in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices.
Subscriptions and payments
Simply Track Premium is an optional auto-renewing subscription. Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store, and we never see or receive your payment card details. To unlock, restore and manage entitlements across your devices, the App uses RevenueCat as its subscription infrastructure provider. RevenueCat receives a random, app-generated identifier and your purchase status for this app, not your health data and not your name or email. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy and the Apple Privacy Policy for how they process purchase data.
Notifications
Reminders (such as a nudge before your period is predicted, or an evening check-in while it is on) are off until you turn them on. They are scheduled locally on your device from your own data; their content is not sent to or through us. If iCloud sync is on, Apple may deliver a silent background signal to keep your devices in step; it carries no readable personal content to us.
The doctor report
The PDF cycle report is generated on your device and is anonymous by default. It is created only when you ask for it and shared only through the share sheet you choose. We do not receive a copy.
Legal basis for processing
Where the GDPR or POPIA applies, our legal bases are your explicit consent for processing health data (a special category of personal information, which you give during setup and can withdraw at any time by disabling features or deleting your data) and the performance of a contract to provide the App and any Premium features. Most processing happens locally on your device and does not involve us as a recipient of your data at all.
International data transfers
We are based in South Africa. Because your cycle data stays on your device and in your own iCloud, it is not transferred to us. Where our providers (such as Apple and RevenueCat) process limited purchase data in other countries, we take steps to ensure it receives an adequate level of protection as required by POPIA and, where applicable, the GDPR.
Data retention
Your entries are kept for as long as you keep them. Because the data lives on your device and in your iCloud, you control retention directly: it stays until you delete individual entries, clear the App’s data, remove the App’s iCloud data, or delete the App. We hold no separate copy to retain.
Security
Your data benefits from your device’s built-in encryption and, when synced, Apple’s iCloud encryption. You can add an extra layer by enabling Face ID / passcode lock for the App. No system is perfectly secure, but keeping your data on your own device and out of a central server materially reduces the risk of a large-scale breach.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access, correct, export, delete and restrict the use of your personal information, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Because your data is on your own device and iCloud, most of these are self-service and immediate: view and edit any entry in the App, export a PDF report at any time, and delete entries, clear all data, or remove the App’s iCloud data to erase it. We generally cannot access or delete your on-device data for you, precisely because it is private to you. If you have a question, contact us at [email protected].
Under POPIA, you may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa. Under the GDPR, you may complain to your local data protection authority.
Children and young people
Simply Track is designed to be welcoming and safe for young people experiencing their first period, and is built so that no personal data about a young user is collected by us or sent off the device: there is no account, no advertising and no tracking. Where the law sets a minimum age for consenting to data processing, we ask that users below that age use Simply Track with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in a way that would require verifiable parental consent, because the App’s design means we do not collect such information at all.
The same design shapes how we approach the United States Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA): because Nanotech Computers collects no personal information from a child through the App, there is nothing for us to gather, use or share that would trigger COPPA’s verifiable parental-consent requirements. If you are a parent or guardian with any concern, please contact us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and change the “Last updated” date above. Where a change is significant, we will ask you to review it again in the App. See also our Terms of Use.
